Distracted in a side shopping area

OK the last place we were to visit today (a castle) was closed (missed by 7 minutes!) so we decided to walk for a while (as the bus ride was quite scary) and we found an amazing shopping ‘block’. This thing must be 2-3 km’s long and had houses, temples, a park in it!!

Temple District, Kyoto

Probably picked the worst day to go out as apparently it’s a Japanese public holiday and it’s a zoo.
Absolutely beautiful architecture and stunning views.
Too many people but lots of people in traditional gear.

Toei Movie Park, Kyoto

So camp, it was cool!
Home of the Power Rangers and other Toei projects, the park was quite good.

Featuring sets from past films, the trademark of the park is its Edo style village and bridge, star of many period pieces.

Saw a Power Rangers Vs Ninja show that was just strange and a ninja show that was pretty cool (esp. the lead character).
Also had the set from Godzilla where he descends on Tokyo from the harbour but no Godzilla merchandise.

On a semi crowded train on the way back to Kyoto.
Locals still giving me a wide berth!

Cultural Handicraft Centre, Kyoto

Made spinning tops by hand. Amazing place with lots to see.
Most impressed by the floor of prints. Makes me wish I had way much money and a means of getting it all home.

Currently sitting on a side street bench eating sushi and innari, watching the locals do their thing. Can life get any lazier?

Nara-day of the temple

Currently on the train back to Kyoto from a full day of visiting temples in Nara.
Saw the 2nd largest Buddha in the world and many sacred deer.

Hiroshima

Sitting having breakfast (unfortunately, its a western style breakfast – eating scrambled eggs with chopsticks just feels wrong 🙁 ) listening to an orchestral version of the Never Ending Story!! Surreal!!!!!

Good nights sleep last night. Kids are not looking after themselves food and waterwise, so will yet again have to tell them to eat and drink.
Last night was the first decent nights sleep Ive had as I was in bed by 9:30!!! Very hectic.

Can’t wait to see the O-Tori Gate and the Museum.
Hope the typhon doesn’t cause us any issues!!!!
